The vision for establishing DODLU University was ignited by Dr Abdulkarim Haruna Marwan’s father, a firm believer in the transformative power of education. His dying words echoed this belief, urging his son to make education a cornerstone of his endeavours.
Inspired by his father’s legacy, he sought guidance from respected professionals in the field of education before seeking approval from the National Universities Commission and other relevant institutions.
The University’s location was carefully chosen, considering the lack of operational Private Distance Learning and Open Universities in the North West geo-political zone of Nigeria. This presented an opportunity to serve the underserved communities in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, and Kano States.
Establishing the University would not only fulfill the Promoter’s father’s wish but also provide much-needed access to tertiary education for the people of the Northwest.
DODLU will empower disadvantaged youths and the workforce by offering a variety of computer-based courses, preparing them for global competition and instilling entrepreneurial skills. This influx of educated individuals will attract development to the region, boosting its economic, social, and educational landscape.
The Promoter envisions the University as a beacon of hope, fostering a culture of good living that will contribute to reducing banditry and other violent crimes in the state and its environs.
With a focus on personalized, exceptional service, our library seeks to complement the University’s teaching and research endeavours, cultivating an atmosphere conducive to creative and independent thinking.
The library is equipped with extensive collections of ebooks, journals and research databases, with a virtual library team and specialist librarians ready to support you.
While our focus remains on academic excellence and knowledge acquisition, we believe that a holistic experience goes beyond the classroom. Some of our recreational facilities include Sports complexes, fitness centers, arts & crafts studios— all geared towards fostering a sense of community amongst our students and preparing them for success beyond their academic pursuits.
