Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for admission to Dela Open and Distance Learning University, you must have completed secondary school or its equivalent. You must also meet the specific admissions requirements for your desired program of study.

Undergraduate Requirements

Academic qualifications:

  • Five credits in O’Level examinations (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE O’Level) including English Language and Mathematics, often at not more than two sittings.

 

  • A good grade in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board). Specific cut-off scores vary by university and program.

 

  • DODLU accept alternative qualifications like Higher National Diploma (HND) or Advanced Level (A’Level) results.

 

Age:

  • The university require applicants to be at least 16 years old.

Postgraduate Requirements

Academic qualifications:

  • A good second-class honours degree from a recognized Nigerian university or equivalent international qualification. Minimum CGPA typically ranges from 2.0 to 3.5 depending on the institution and program.

 

  • Some programs may accept higher national diplomas (HND) with excellent grades and relevant experience.

 

  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and PhD programs usually require a Master’s degree in a relevant field with a strong academic record.

 

  • Entrance exams: Some universities require postgraduate applicants to take additional entrance exams like GRE, GMAT, or specific program-related tests.

    Experience: Some professional and research-oriented programs may require relevant work experience.

Additional requirements:

  • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge Certificate or letter of Exemption: Required for Nigerian graduates seeking admission into many programs.

 

  • Medical fitness report: Most institutions require a medical certificate from a certified doctor.

 

  • Reference letters: Some universities may ask for academic or professional references.

 

  • English Language proficiency tests: May be required for international students or those whose degree wasn’t taught in English.
